Katrina, you are an amazing teacher and I can't thank you

enough for your sharing your knowledge, encouragement

and belief in me. My goal was to be able to win at Sing Star

but I learnt so much more. Breathing techniques,

understanding my voice, using warm up and most of all

building my confidence to finally sing in front of a room

full of work mates and visitors... I would never have dreamt

it was possible before I did the course. Thank you so much -

Karen Glibbery

Katrina has given my daughter skills and self confidence that will carry

her through life. Katrina is extremely professional and a great teacher of

all things preforming arts. She does everything with mega enthusiasm

and is very encouraging of her students. The last show Lily auditioned

for she received lots of positive feed back on how much her voice had come along and her stage presence. The director even picked that she had been lucky enough to be having lessons with Katrina. I would highly recommend for anyone young or old to seek out Katrina for lessons. - Michaella Wellauer

Katrina is a very professional and caring teacher. She takes the time to get to know her students and the way they learn. She developes their self confidence at the same time she is developing their skills. As well as my children's singing teacher she has become a friend. I would highly recommend Katrina to any parent who is looking for a someone to help develope their child's passions in the performing arts field. - Sally Reid

Very professional, talented in all areas of performing arts, I would highly recommend students training with Katrina as they will be in great hands and will get results. Emmy Love

I have been honored to have worked with Katrina as a colleague in a challenging vocalist role. As I was fairly new to the scene, I found great assistance from Katrina. She assisted me with not only vocal technique, but also stage presence and confidence with her fantastic ability to teach direct and encourage. I would gladly recommend Katrina as a vocal coach, director, singer/performer to anyone wanting to ensure growth of their own natural talents! If you have a talent that needs nurturing, or even if you don't, but want to try your hand, there is no one better! If I was living within reach I'd have my own daughter training with Katrina and no one else! - Wendy Pirie

My daughter went to Katrina for vocal lessons for approx 1 year.  She absolutely loved the classes that Katrina ran.  She couldn’t wait to go to class each week and her confidence grew with all the challenges that Katrina set.  While being taught by Katrina my daughter learned not only how to sing but also how to breathe correctly. The classes started with a warm up and fun exercises to help boost their confidence  and was followed by learning a range of songs and performance skills.  Katrina had children singing solos in local performances and end of year shows.  I would highly recommend Katrina if your child is interested in taking up singing - Bridget Mickelson

I found Katrina very clear and concise.  All the information I got in my lessons with you stuck with me so I think you are more then a great vocal tutor and recommend to anyone wanting to take their vocals seriously. Kathy Clay

In response to the CD we created for the GleeKids last year

Hi Katrina

I finally picked up the CD yesterday and wanted to let you know I think it’s lovely! You guys did a great job. Thank you so much for organising that for the kids – it was a neat experience for them and a lovely keepsake. Sounds really professional. Thank you again also to the recording studio operator. Sophie is very proud of it. - Jo Spod

What are the benefits of Performing Arts?

Problem Solving Skills

A skill you can never have enough of! Through creating stage work, students are presented with a number of problems, in the planning and rehearsing phase, and while performing. Drama, dance and singing all allow the student to work in a safe environment to develop these skills. Being able to think your way through a scenario, and work out how things will look/sound when they are produced. Developing problem solving skills along with way during improvisation and while in performance.

Developing Communication and Language Skills
Students work with script and improvisation.  Through this they can experiment with language, body language and communication in different situations.  These skills help with confidence to express feelings and ideas and build social skills.

Physical activity
Students will be encouraged to keep fit and will be presented with dance numbers to do, as well as learn how to choreograph themselves. Students will aim to increase their coordination, balance, strength and flexibility.

Building Imagination and Creativity

The ability to imagine and think outside of the square, these are skills which can be developed through creating characters, dancing, acting out new situations and the use of voice to further extend the creative elements.

Empathy
Character based exercises help students think about how that character might feel in different situations. The classes will work on real life situations such as bullying, receiving an award, different family situations. Empathy is an extension on building social awareness in children; students learn to put themselves in another person’s ‘shoes’ to identify the feelings, ideas and attitudes of that character and the ones around them. This extends back to critical thinking and problem solving.

Theatre etiquette

Students will work to a performance level and learn the skills needed to work within theatrical requirements. This will cover many aspects including; theatrical terms (upstage/downstage etc.); use of props and costumes; projecting voices and learning parts.

Beginner dance technique, singing technique and acting techniques
Such as how to do dance turns and runs.  Vocal exercises and breathing technique.  Theory and reasoning behind why we do what we do will be taught to support these techniques.  GleeKids Specialised class teaches dance and singing and performance skills in much greater depth.

Confidence
The classes aim to find and promote each individual's strengths, as well as work on all other aspects of performing. Through accomplishing tasks, rehearsing and performing, children will gain confidence in social settings as well as in the performance arena. All while fostering an appreciation of singing, dancing, acting, music and text.
